Sales people understand the concept of triggers - those compelling events that bump your customer into motion to buy. Particularly where sales cycles are long, its important to nurture leads and monitor for triggers. It's also important to keep your sales pipe full so there are enough triggers happening for you. Brian Carroll has blogged about this a couple of times - see his latest easy read on the topic, including mindmap. Also watch for seminars on trigger-based selling.
