the long tail of movies

box_office.jpgA very cool way to look at the long tail through the box office was provided by the NYTimes last week. These tails would be even longer if DVD sales and international releases were included. The former can of course go on for decades.  Add to the black art of Studio economics and you can see how hard it is to determine the true profitability of a title.
