collaboration - where the sum is greater

go the blackoutCollaboration is a catch cry of the current climate. Trends in business and social media are tightly coupled because, of course, both are driven by people and affected by expectations and behaviours that cross all our walks of life. But where social media is the web's wild west, experimenting and playing with new models and tricks, traditional business has little appetite for risky unproven investments. The more case studies that emerge where people using social technology make a big difference to things relevant to business, the more business will adopt these new techniques for hard commercial ROI. The news today that NZ's proposed new copyright law change (section 92) was delayed, and may be suspended, is a victory to the "blackout" resistance movement that overtook NZers contributions to Twitter, Facebook and websites. Social media can make a difference, even in Parliament.
