enterprise 2.0: a strategic response 

Enterprise 2.0 is (another annoying 2.0 term) refers to the application of user generated web content tools inside enterprises. Some have high expectations that, with SaaS, this will one day mean a complete rethink of corporate IT architectures and costs. In the short term, however, there is a lot of debate whether the recession is good or bad for E2.0 initiatives. Pundits seem to agree that E2.0 tools can reduce costs, and increase productivity; and yet there is a risk that line-by-line budget cuts that are reactive and short-sighted delay these benefits.  Is it just positive thinking to hope that the power of the people will overwhelm such obstacles?
